I have the preceeding generation of those printers, the Epson Stylus Color.
It *only* goes to 720x720 dpi, where the 600 and 800 go to 1440x720. It
provides excellent prints of both astrophotos and standard photos. I believe
that the 600 holds only one cartridge at a time--black or
cyan/magenta/yellow; the 800 holds both cartridges at the same time, giving
MUCH better blacks and image contrast.
My recommendation to you is to go for it, and go for the 800 if money
permits.
