Well, my suggestion to use lighten didn't work.

And, I tried using Autostitch for an astro mosaic similar to yours, and it 
wouldn't work.

And Photoshop's Photomerge wouldn't work either.

Looks like its three strikes and I'm out. (Always looking for the lazy way 
to do things I guess).

Go back in Sky and Tel  and find:

Creating High Resolution CCD Color Mosaics in Photoshop by Robert Gendler 
in the August 2003 issue. He tells you how to do it.
