RE: [APML] NGC 7789 posted
Alan,
It looks like a realistic view of how the cluster appears in the
eyepiece of a moderate-sized telescope in dark skies. The background
might be too dark for some people's taste, but there is no wrong or
right way to do this.
NGC 7789 is one of my favorite clusters - it's not bright, but the large
number of dim, barely-visible stars make it an impressive sight. It's
also easy to find, and I'm surprised it is not photographed more often.
Here is my photo of the cluster - it's a looser view, and rotated from
your shot by about 90 degrees clockwise. My stars have the classic E200
bloat.

Hey all,
I thought I had this one right 3 days ago, it didn't work out that way.
Something from the Pbase website leaches blue into all my shots and I
have to repeatedly repair them.
Here's another open cluster that I shot to pass some time. You'd think
from it's NGC designation that it wouldn't be much to look at. Well,
you'd be wrong. Doesn't have those big, bright stars like M39, but it
does have dozens of fainter jewels that are really quite nice. I have
already darkened the BG several times and I think it's reached the
limit. So here it is:

Folks, please don't be shy. I do not post pictures to get cheap praise.
I post them to hear your constructive critisicm so I can figure out how
to work in PS without driving myself (and you) crazy. Let me have it.
Thanks,
Alan
