You can always do it in Photoshop or some other image
processing program that allows layers. In Regstar align
and match one to the other. Save the registered image
but don't combine them. Then in PS paste the registered
image over the reference. You will then have to use
selections to remove the excess from the pasted image.
Now blur the edges. Before you flatten you may want
to gaussian blur the part that only comes from one image
to match the reduced grain of the combined.
