Hi Brian

If you want to go the homebrew route you may want to check out some of
the stepper driver circuits for the barn door mounts that are on the
web. There are several which don't use micro controllers and just use a
555 with an RC circuit for the speed control portion.
>From another list I see that Radio Shack has a PIC stepper controller
for $60. Not sure if you need a PC to set the rate or not.
