The 4870 has very good value for the money. The 3.8 density is well enough. 
What I don't like: A bit soft image. The 4800 dpi optical resolution is not 
true, a 2400 dpi scan gets almost the same resolution. I miss the 
resampling function from the softwares, because there is some noise of the 
scanner. Silverfast software has no 16 bit/channel output function, 
therefore i don't use it. There is also some "color shift" problem, but not 
always.
But i think it is a very good choice, look Wei-Hao's pictures!
