Re: [APML] Reflecting on Cygnus

Rob,

I have a question in regards to how your recent images are being
displayed. First let me explain I have both a PC and a Mac connected
to my Dell 2405FPW display. Both computers have been adjusted so that
identical images look nearly identical on the monitor. This includes
the grayscale step test.

Sometimes I open your images in Photoshop and I see you have the sRGB
profile embedded. Are you intending your images to be viewed with
that profile or with no profile?

I've found that most browsers display the images using no profile.
The one exception is the Mac Safari browser which does a profile
conversion. IE on the PC and IE, Netscape, and FireFox on the Mac
discard the profile.

Discarding the profile makes for a much brighter and noisier image.
The profile converted images are darker, a bit dark for my taste, but
much nicer looking overall.

I'm betting you're adjusting the images to be displayed with the
profile conversion based on the look of your older images.

Chuck
