BTW : take few minutes to visit Dennis site mentioned above , you'll discover an excellent photographer in an excellent place for aurora :)

Dom, now that you mention it too, can you or Stan or someone explain what a Proton Arc is? I have also photographed these things that look like search light beams and wondered how they are formed since they seem so different from more conventional aurora displays.
