Dom, now that you mention it too, can you or Stan
or someone explain what a Proton Arc is? I have also photographed these things
that look like search light beams and wondered how they are formed since they
seem so different from more conventional aurora displays.
Beauty in things exists in the mind that contemplates them.

Beautiful pictures Stan !!!
I saw and photographed a proton arc too at the same date ! I cant
recognize the constelations on your pictures but "my" proton arc was just
beside Arcturus on saturday night 24 ! Interesting to see the same phenomena
at different place and time ! I'll post my ~ 40 pictures soon on spacew
:)
Clear skies !
Hello
everyone- I treated my daughters to their first northern lights display
this past Saturday nite, was alot of fun to watch with them, nice to be
able to share it rather than usually being alone out in the middle of
nowhere. A nice hydrogen arc lingered in the western sky for quite
awhile. Here's a few pics. Also watched a brief substorm right after
dusk last nite, pics to come. Too bad the storm is dying out :( Comments
welcome.
