Thanks for all the comments.
The main thing I learned is to do as much of the processing
as possible on the color negatives before adding the Tech Pan
luminance layer. By having strong color data you can blur
the crap out of the color channels to get rid of noise. The
only noise that remains is the grain from the tech pan but its
much lower than color film and easier to reduce. I was able to
add the tech pan luminance in a single iteration at 100% rather
"building up" the image.
