Re: [APML] OT: Mosaics from here on Earth

Awesome. Incredible detail in the large versions.

My wife and I have had our D70 for a few months now and we've taken almost 4000
pictures through it already. I continue to be amazed at the sharpness of
enlargements from a measly 6MP. I hadn't considered doing mosaics until I saw
this photo; there's also an article in OP showcasing some digital mosaics that
rival the best field camera shots.

I've been debating the purchase of a Toyo 4x5 for outdoor work, but now I'm
wondering if an extra D70 and Photoshop CS might be all I need (practical
experience has shown that 1 D70 + 2 people = unhappy couple). Does CS offer
any obvious advantages over 7 for doing this kind of stitching?

Did you do any perspective control when you stiched those images together? How
difficult would a mosaic like this be if you had a couple of tall trees in the
shot that were "leaning together", and you wanted to fix it the same way a
quick rise on a view camera would?

Was this 100% Photoshop, or did you use anything else to get the mosaic
started?

Thanks,

EZB
