Jim I tend to agree with you that this might be a cool-down issue since it
appears to reach an equilibrium eventually.

Gene I've never used the st-4 on the computer but it's thought I might try.

As for frosting; the first thing I did was re-bake the dessicant ring and
let the st-4 head lay out in the mid-morning sun to try and purge any
moisture from the head. Frosting usuallty equates to lowered sensitivity.
I'm getting inconsistant brightness readings. First very low sensitivity
then it finally appears to kick in to normal operation with more dark
frames.

Philip, your ideas are certainly worth looking into especially since the
st-4 head and CPU have been in an often damp and spidery observatory for
several years. Those spiders can get tiny webs into lots of places. I'll dog
to find that bridge rectifier yyou mention and give the thing a good
once-over. I do have one or two keypads on the CPU that are a bit hard to
make connection when pressed.
