RE: [APML] Fuji Provia 400F and exposure time
I agree with Jeff, 60 to 70 minutes works well. As a side note, if memory
serves me, Matt BenDaniel used to shoot at f5.6 for 90 minutes on E200
without pushing the film. His results speak for themselves. I'm just not
sure how much you gain with the additional minutes. Just my .02 worth.

Hello Nicola,
I know what you mean about wasting sky time. About 2 years ago I went with
extended exposures on an f8 system with E200 and Provia. I had data ranging
from one hour to 105 minutes. I was imaging at Cherry Springs State Park in
PA which is considered one of the best dark sky spots in the eastern US. I
found a negligible benefit with exposing longer than 60 minutes. That is
why I switched to an f6 system. My advice is to shoot with optics as fast
as you have for no more than 60 minutes, even under dark skies. Maybe a bit
more than 60, say 70, but I wouldn't waste much more time than that. One
person's experience...hope it helps.
Best regards,
Jeff Ball
