Re: [APML] June pictures ...

Salut Philippe ,

Very beautiful images , I realy like the one of M4 with Antares ! I think I'll follow your topic because I realy don't understand the principle of " Knife Edge Focuser "... Do you let the camera open when you use this method ?

Clear skies !

Hello,

The month of June has been a good month for the weather up here. You can see my latest pictures there:

It seems that my guiding improves a bit but I still have big problems focusing my F4! The Hartmann mask is not precise enough so I
decided to try knife-edge focusing. I bought an extra OM-1 camera body and made a knife-edge focuser following advices from Jerry
Lodriguss and Rockett Crawford web sites. You can see the first prototype here: http://www.astrophoto.ca/en/focuser.html

My first attempt using it has not been successful because the filmstrip I used was not flat. I should have seen it before but didn'
t. Do any of you have a suggestion on a replacement for film as the knife-edge? All advices on knife-edge focussing are very
welcome!

Thanks and clear skies,

P.
