Re: [APML] Chemicals for prints
Hi Brian
If you have the powder fix, use it for the time being as long as it
hasn't passed the expiry date.
Rapid fix is nice and IIRC it washes out faster than regular fixer.
If you use polycontrast papers you will be able to use your colour
filters to dial in the contrast that you want while printing.
Have a look around the 2nd hand book stores for Photography by Upton and
Upton. An excellent book.
My preference 15 years ago was the Ilford chemicals as they all came in
liquid form and at the time Kodak was all powder and messier to mix. But
I noticed recently that Kodak has started making their film developers
in liquid so they may be changing as well.
If you shoot slides and want to get some stunning prints later on check
into Cibachrome if it is still around. The colour saturation used to be
magnificent.
I regret having sold off my Omega and the rest of my darkroom equipment.
