[APML] Scanner Focus

While scanners seem to be the hot topic, I have a question.  I use the
ScanWit 2720S with the MiraFoto softare that came with it. One of the
biggest problems is with the fact that it always wants to set the focus
on the first image.  Not too much of a problem with slide since I can
make sure a good image is in position one, but with negatives you never
know what is going to be on the first frame.

Is this a software issue that upgrading to VueScan or similar would
help?
