RE: [APML] OT: New 35mm Astro CCD camera
Hello All,
This question is probably better suited for the SBIG page but sense
the subject as been brought up I thought I would go ahead and through
this out for the group.
I would be curious to know if it would be possible to build an
array with 4 or 8 smaller (less expensive) sized CCD chips and have
built in software to stitch the image into one full image frame
before it down loads the image to the PC. It would help to us a 2"
noise piece instead of a 1 1/4" noise piece this would allow a larger
area for the multiple chips and FOV. Would each chip need to scan
1/4 or 1/8 of the FOV to replicate the larger (surface area) chips?
I think the VLT telescope uses similar principal?, but I may be
wrong.
Thanks,
Joe Schaefer
