Re: [APML] Antares/M4/Rho area

Don S,

Your Rho looks great, so far.  The lens is working very well, and it looks like your ST-4 is guiding very well.  I see from your note on the web site you plan to add more exposure.  Be careful with longer exposures, up to 90 minutes.  The longer exposure requires better polar alignment to avoid Field Rotation, and the longer exposure is more susceptible to ADR and mirror flop (I think you are using the ST-4 on your 12 inch Meade).  I hope you can avoid these other factors.

Good Luck,
Don W

Subject: [APML] Antares/M4/Rho area

Hi All,
WHEW! After a couple of weeks of tweaking and adjusting, tweaking and adjusting, I finally got a (somewhat) respectable image of this very difficult region. My thanks go out to Jim Janusz for introducing me to BGsmooth. Even thought it kinda butchered the brighter stars and the core of M4, I couldn't get the noise down nearly as much in SGBNR.
Thanks,
Don Spencer
