It's outrageously steep.  It's been several years but even back in the late
'90's
a drum scan (~60Mb) was around US$5.00/each IIRC, although there was a setup
charge
($10?) per CD.

Where do you live?  Maybe there is someone on the list nearby that could
scan them in exchange for lunch or something.
