I'm with Alan on this one, I always use the same processor and I've gotten
to know the manager as well as the individual operators.  They know me as
well.  When I bring in a roll with astrophotos, it is clearly marked
"astrophotos".  It took me several months to "get them trained" what I
wanted in the proof prints a few years ago.  Since then, new people have
come into the department and I make a point to meet them.  From time to time
I take some of my 8x10's in to show them what I'm getting when I combine
pictures.

Consistency and regular communication has worked wonders here.  BTW I use a
one hour photo lab in a Longs Drug store near my home.  They have never cut
an individual picture on  any of my rolls.  They know that if they can't
make out the picture edge to not cut at all.  That's fine with me.
