Hi Tony,
wow, thatīs a very deep shot and itīs interesting
to see, how large that beast is and how much detail is given in the faintest
parts. For my taste, you did a bit too much nonlinear stretching in between the
brightest parts and the dark lanes , but of course you are getting a
good contrast.
I was shooting that one in one the brightest nights
on 24th of june where it doesnīt get really dark here at my latitude. The light
pollution is much more in any case compared to your side <g>.
Here is a color result: http://www.spiegelteam.de/ngc6946.htm

Subject: Re: [APML]4th of July Fireworks Hello,
Thought I would upload a
quick and dirty version of the NGC 6946 that I have been working on... this is
the luminance with IR cutoff... this facilitates complete RGB coverage of the
luminance... color version coming when I get two more clear nights.
This is a total of 5.75
hours of luminance exposure at f/8 with the 14.5" Cassegrain... round stars
for once and a better understanding of Sigma processing. I'll probably back off
a bit for the LRGB but it's the fourth so I felt like fireworks... : -

Happy 4th!
Tony
