Gerry;
    IIRC the 48" at Palomar used 14" square glass plates of the 103a series
film. Many cracked as they were bent to conform to the curved focal plane. I
seem to remember reading somewhere that the corrector lens was upgraded to a
doublet, to improve chromatic performance. I also seem to remember that it
has been upgraded to CCD's. Don't ask me to remember where I read this - I
can't even remember what I had for dinner yesterday.....
