Brian,

 If you have a new PC, open up the case. An IDE drive controller can
hook up to two drives. Look at the IDE cable which connects  your
motherboard to your primary drive. The 2nd connector on this cable can
be used for your old drive. Make sure you set the pins on your old drive
to "slave mode". Also make sure you connect power to this drive. There
should be extra power connectors lying around in the chasis. When you
repower up the machine, the old drive will appear as a new "letter"
drive. You can then select and drag to copy.

To find out how to configure your old drive as a slave, lookup the
website of the maker of the drive. Look up the specific model then try
to find documentation for it. There should be info on the website on
what the pins ought to be set to.
