I raised this question a few
weeks ago. The consensus was that due to the non-linear nature of film, flat
fielding a photo probably wouldn't work. I still plan to give it a try, I just
haven't got around to it yet. If you have any results, I would like to see
them.

This should work, I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't. If so,
what kind of exposure should be used? Any other special processing
