RE: [APML] Care of Negatives
Kevin,
I mount my shots in 35mm slide mounts for scanning, and that also makes it
perfect for handling, and storage with those slide pages you get at photos
stores. Use only the type marked "Archival" to keep the fumes of the
plastic from changing the emulsion. Whats neat about this as well, is that
the data can be written directly on the slide mount, and stays with it
forever.

Subject: [APML] Care of Negatives
I work strictly with 35mm, but I suppose these questions apply whatever the
film format.
Before scanning my negatives, I first gently brush both sides with a soft
brush, then give them a moderate blast of compressed air at an oblique
angle. This generally seems to remove any dust or other loose material
without scratching the emulsion.
After I'm done scanning them, I put all the strips from a roll in a regular
mailing envelope after first writing notes on the outside of the envelope.
Any comments on the best way(s) to prepare and store negatives?
