Roland,
I'm surprised to read that you upgraded from a class 3 chip. SBIG
states on their webpage that they have never used a class 3 chip in their
products. Also, I don't think the class 1 chip has a lower background
noise than the class 2 or class 3 chips. My understanding is that the
class rating is based on the number of point, cluster or column defects
and that the background noise is more a function of the interface
electronics.
