Re: [APML] Jpeg standards



The UK music giant EMI managed to shutdown (for the most part) the
guitar tablature and music lyric sites (OnLine Guitar Archive, OLGA)
that were scattered all around the world by slapping a bunch of the
major sites with law suits. That spooked the smaller fish and university
sites into dissapearing. These sites rose out of newsgroups where
musicians would share their interpretations of the details of various
songs, very few of the music companies published the material other than
in Bontempi Easy Chord format.
All the patent owners for JPEG have to do is start slapping lawsuits or
cease and desist orders on some big names that are in financial trouble,
or places like E-Bay where a picture is needed for most items.
But I'm not a lawyer and my free legal advice is worth what I charged
you for it...
