[APML] Scanning from negative. False delusion?

Hi All,

I tried to scan a photo of mine of NGC7000 both with a flat bed scanner 
and then i gave to a photoshop the negative to scan. The result was a 
220Megs file but I can still handle that.
The thing is that I thought that I could get better colours scanning 
directly from negative, but the results are comparable with scanning the 
photo! Was I expecting too much from a film scanner or the guy scanned 
it is not very good at it?
