Hi Jason:
I endorse Greg's idea---almost certainly an LED inside the camera. If you
can operate the camera without any batteries in it, try taking the batteries
out. Otherwise, see if there's some way to turn off the LED indicators using
the camera controls. If that can't be done, you may be in the market for a
different cheaper camera (a 100% mechanical one). To see if it's coming from
the outside via the viewfinder, try taking some test shots with absolutely
everything turned off (flashlights, etc). You can do this with an ordinary
lens on the camera, inside a closet at night or in a changing bag---doesn't
need the astro setup.
