Yes to your question.  My experiences differ from Gene's.  The only time I
have a problem is when there is nasty weather between me and the satellite
or between the satellite and ground station.
About the same initial outlay as an ST-4 also (you buy the dish and modem).
Monthly: about $75, includes TV content.  Latency is about 700ms.  No online
games, sorry  ; )  From pcpitstop.com,
my average download results are 1000kb/s, uploads are 80kb/s, ping is 675ms.
One of the providers (the one I use) is at http://www.starband.com   There
are others.  Starband was associated with Dish Network (EchoStar
Communications) but recently parted company.  EchoStar merged with Hughes,
so they may also provide satellite internet.  I do not work for, represent,
or own stock in any of these companies : )
