Satellite wound up being just too much of a PITA. Yes, there were
times when it would work faster than dialup. In particular when
downloading a single large file. But the latency was a big issue,
especially when multiple users were active at the same time. Forget
even trying any interactive applications (Citrix/Term Serv, online
games, etc.)
We wound up going with plain old ISDN. It is the slowest of the
"broadband" links, dated, and often slightly more expensive, but it
is comparable to the ST-4. It just plain works.
