RE: [APML] Dark Nebula Image

Loke, Plenty of red neblosity in the zeta region. Your making me chomp at
the bit with your beautiful images! We got the roof trusses all made today
for the new observatory. Tommorow, if the monsoon doesnt drown us, I am
installing the rolling roof base and all the trusses. it will be one of
those moments to remember for a lifetime when I first push the roof skeleton
back and forth. I gave a good 12 inches over the projected height of the
schmidt on the mounting for clearance. I hope my autocad drawings are
right...

Loke, thanks again for making me work harder to get the observatory
finished.

Chris

Chris,

It's a dark nebula which is apart of the larger Zeta Ophiuchus Nebula
complex. Check out a wider field version taken by a Japanese amateur.

I got a chance to shoot the upper right region of this nebulosity in the
past at:
http://www.starryscapes.com/nebula/zeta_ophiuchus.html

Shooting the dark nebula section was a lot more challenging. The month
of July had significant moisture in the upper atmosphere due to the
monsoons in Arizona. High clouds kept interfering. I will have to give
this region another attempt next year.
