Re: [APML] M8 using a Canon D60 digital SLR
Hi Bill
My understanding of the Raw Image Converter's linear mode is exactly as you
stated. I have not yet been able to verify this from any Canon technical
specs but the raw 48-bit TIF images coming out of Raw Image Converter look
very much like an image from a cooled linear CCD. I am looking for a
technical description of Raw Image Converter from Canon but have not found
one yet. If anyone does please post it!
I always take 9 dark frames using the same temperature, exposure, and ISO
setting as the raw images and average them to make a master dark frame. Each
raw 3072x2048 48-bit TIF image from Raw Image Converter is dark frame
calibrated before being aligned using a semi-automatic correlation algorithm
that is accurate to 0.10 pixel. The averaged or summed combination is also a
3072x2048 48-bit TIF and is saved before further processing.
Mike
