Re: [APML] Trouble with ST-4 & LX-200

Yes, I have done this.  I know that the scope does respond when I hit the arrow keys on the ST4 and/or on the PC when using CCD Track.  I will check those settings.  I have a lot to work from, thanks to all of your responses.  I just have to wait for a clear sky now.  Tonight=clouds. :-(

Thanks,
Frank

And it's not like it takes awhile.  If I hit track, the relays start clicking away immediately.  If I stop it 5 seconds after that, and bring up the focus screen (larger than the tracking screen), I'm lucky if the guide star is still in the view.

Is it possible that your guide speed is set too high? A relay closure of 1 second at 1x sidereal will move the star 15 arc seconds. Typically, the relays will respond to 1/10 second corrections and perhaps faster, so the minimum motion at 1x will be 1.5 arc sec. Have you tried guiding yourself with the buttons just to be sure that the mount actually responds in a controlled manner?
