Re: [APML] Mt. Laguna?

I spent four nights at Mount Laguna last week. My club reserved the entire
Meadow Loop several months ago using ReserveUSA
<http://www.reserveusa.com/nrrs/ca/lagn/lagn1.html>. There are some pine
trees in the campground, so the best area to set up is south of sites 13 and
14 in the meadow. There is a wooden fence around the outside of the loop,
with a locked gate between sites 13 and 14. Next to the gate is a two-foot
gap that allows you to walk through, but large pieces of equipment must be
carried over the fence. To view Polaris, you need to go into the meadow
about 50 feet south of the fence. The view of the southern horizon is good.
There is some skyglow from the San Diego area to the west. If there is a
coastal marine layer, as there was last Wednesday night, then light
pollution is minimal.

According to ReserveUSA, Sites 10 and 21 are the only ones still available
for this Friday. The most direct route there from Orange County is to take
I-5 south to San Diego, and then go east on I-8 to County Route S-1. Laguna
Campground is about 6-7 miles north on S-1. See
<http://www.rivastro.org/rasmap_laguna.htm> for maps.
