Thanks for showing us another one of your great photos at
http://www.starryscapes.com/nebula/scutum_cloud.html

The area you show does not include the Scutum Star Cloud (
http://www.homestead.com/mstecker/ssc.html ) which is about 12 degrees north
of M17 and not shown in your photo.  The star cloud that you show south of
M17 is the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud.
