>Jeff, I have had problems with my ST4 such as you describe when there are light sources in the area, even red lights with minimal visability. Sometimes the ST4 just seems to pick up these other light sources. When I turned off all of the lights it stopped jumping around and gave me a single reading. Hope this helps.
