Re: [APML] Which M42 do you prefer???

Hi Eddie:
I didn't look at the histograms, honest<G>!
I vote for an image halfway between b and c. D is much too brown and overprocessed (circles aroung the stars). C is somewhat too brown and rather grainy---needs smoothing. B is too magenta but nice and smooth. Looks like a nice bit of surrounding nebulosity that could be brought up more (but mask to prevent trapezium burnout!). Good rainy weather work....

Subject: [APML] Which M42 do you prefer???

Hi All

Just been messing about with my "old" M42 image (the one I try all my processing attempts on first")
whilst it's raining outside (again!!)

Which do you prefer (a, b, c or d)  (a is the raw image)

All processed differently, using combination of different programmes/methods.

For the purists amongst you, try to make an aesthetic evaluation without looking at the
histograms (what's he done to that histogram? I hear you all asking).

Appreciate your comments. If there is a vast difference of opinion, I'll explain what I did.
