Steve:
Although "Igloo Style" coolers come in many different sizes, you want to find
one that is just right, not too small and not too big. I just measured the
Schmidt and took a tape measure with me, measuring many different coolers. I
finally settled on a 90 qt. Igloo, which is white. There is enough room for
about 2 inches of foam all around.
This fits my Schmidt, with Parallax rings mounted on a Losmandy DC14 plate. I
insert the Schmidt upside down, using the plate as a handle.
One word of caution. As you might know, Schmidt's are very focus sensitive.
Even it is in a well constructed and padded case, it could be knocked out of
alignment or focus during airline travel. To take it down under will have
some risk. I would want to be able to do some test exposures and have them
processed to check the focus after arrival.
