RE: [APML]: EQ Mount recommendations

Hi,

The CG-11 is a very solid package. I use mine pretty much exclusively as
a astrophoto platform. I also am using an ST-4 with it and that works
OK.

One point to remember is that I had to have my mount modified at a local
machine shop to make it keep its polar alignment. Before the fix the
mount would wander between one and two degrees away from the pole. This
only affects people above 44 Degs latitude (thats Europe et al). I
talked to Losmandy directly and they knew about the problem but could
not help. Celestron said I was obviously incompetent. If I were buying
again, I would still go for the CG-11. The stability and quality optics
outweigh the polar alignment problem, that is once you know how to fix
it!

If you have any further questions, please ask away.
