I just thumbed through a copy of Shutterbug and found the following prices at
Abe's Camera of Maine:

Nikon LS20 internal: $720, external: $850
Nikon LS1000: $1600
Polaroid SprintScan 35: $1100

I'm not familiar with the LS10, but the differences between the LS20 and LS1000
are primarily bit depth and bit selection. The LS20 scans at 10 bits and outputs
8 bits that it selects; the LS1000 scans at 12 bits and allows you to select the
optimum 8-bit output range. The LS1000 also scans faster (40 seconds for a
full-res scan vs. 80 seconds) and can accept a multi-feeder accessory.
