Re: [APML]: Why Om-1
I started with two Nikon EM cameras and began looking for other things. After
spending a lot of money on a Nikon F2AS, focussing screens and screen
magnifiers I was able to develop a very good system for focussing. However, I
can now also use the Nikon EM with the SureSharp Point Source focussing device
and achieve great results below the f-10 level. And the Nikon EM is a very
small and lite weight 35mm camera, inexpensive and readily available. At
weekend camera shows, camera and lens might be had for $150.

This list is by no means exhaustive (I've left out Leicas and Contaxes, for
instance), and because I'm working from memory there may be some errors. But
suffice it to say that the OM-1 is not the only camera which meets all the
basic
requirements for a 35mm astrocamera. It's not even the lightest suitable
camera;
the 12-ounce Nikon EM takes that crown.
