The image was scanned at 48bit color, Scanning Quality: Best, Resolution: 
3200dpi, all the adjustments were disabled.  I did adjust the R,G,B black 
points in the histogram manually in the scanner software before scanning the 
image.

Joe,

why do you do that at scanning time and you don't leave the adjustments to 
your favourite image processing software? I don't think the scanner does the 
setting in hardware so ti would be the same. Any particular reason?
