Re: Fw: [APML] Widefield Comet Machholz

Unnoficially, yes. Juan wants to include a very complete set of processes before launching the standard edition. The main idea is that you won't need any other software for any digital threatment.  Also, given the flexibility of the API and PCL systems, the users would be allowed to expand PI's features, and use it for scientific, artistic or whatever purpuse he wants, creating specific, dedicated processes. So, now the quest is to finish those interfase elements, and the first package of processes.

For the common user, STD will be almost the same... if you don't take into account the new processes. So, if you feel comfortable with LE, surely upgrading to STD will be a smooth transition.

Sure! I already wrote two more tutorials. The first one is about SMI and PIP (a function similar to SMI that I discovered). The tutorial describes a basic theorical background, and then the steps to follow to apply them in PI LE 1.0.1.
The second tutorial is about Histograms. I tried to cover almost everything related to that tool, from the theorical basis to PI's implementation. The pdf version is 51 pages long!
Unfortunabily, both tutorials aren't translated to english yet (as you know, I'm Chilean, so my main lenguage is spanish). Anyway, if you want to suffer the pain of reading through those online translators, here are the links:

Juan Conejero offered to translate them, so, as soon as he has free time to do the job, they'll be online at PixInsight's homepage.

Right now I'm starting a new tutorial, this time about Curves. It will follow the pattern of the histograms one, trying to give the reader a strong theorical basis on how to read the curves function and how to modify them. After that, I'll write a tutorial about Basic Spatial Filters (convolutions, statistical filters, morphological, etc.) just to set the basics for a wavelets' tutorial and at the same time to explain the use and background of the median, min and max filters. My intenton is to write tutorials that fully covers every process included in the LE version, plus some short ones about advanced techniques that requires the use of more than a process, just like the film flats and SMI/PIP ones.
