[APML] Konica VX400 vs Centuria 400
Hey all,
This is one I posted a couple weeks ago, but it came back as
'undeliverable'. I ended up with 2 rolls each of VX400 and Centuria
400, so I took 3 shots on each film on consecutive nights using the
same exposure on the same object. Because I had just taken 75 and 125
minute exposures on Fuji SHQ200 of M42 the night before, that's what I
did with the Konica films also.
The VX is the film that Adorama is now subtituting for Centuria. And I
have to say they are doing us a favor. On top of the M42s, I also shot
a 70 minute M45 on each. When I scanned the M42s though, both showed
blocked out cores so I don't know if I did something wrong. I will tell
you what the prints looked like. VX showed twice as much blue in M45,
more subtle reds and pinks in M42, and showed the Running Man better.
Centuria showed strong, ugly looking reds in M42. There is no
comparison as far as I can tell. The Fuji is doing a better job, but
the VX is right behind and I would have no problem using it. I gave the
other roll of Centuria away, 'nuff said.
