The idea behind the CCD technique is to have pinpoint stars, not
lines as in your example. I like the pinpoint stars the CCDers are
producing with their comet images since the star lines are a
distraction. I was hoping their techniques would work with film
too. Apparently, it does but not as good due to the film being
nonlinear and slow to start capturing photons.
The AP 900GTO doesn't have a comet guiding mode per se; however, it
can track a comet "perfectly" if you have the tools (i.e. an STV,
manual guiding, etc.).
