Gary, PixInsight is the tool I believe - wavelets and SGBNR. Don't ask me how but I bet that is the tool to use.

Hello,
    Since the skies have been dismal I've been working on my processing.  This is an image of M42 from last spring.  While it's the best version I've been able to do, I know it still needs a lot of work.  My question is on smoothing.  I was able to bring much more out but it needs to be smoothed out.  What would be the best way to do this without sacrificing detail?
