[APML] Fortepan 400

Last night we had out first clear night in a few weeks, the temperature
was dropping fast so I plopped the mount out on the platform and did a
quick polar alignment using only the polar scope.
With a 135mm f/2.8 lens and a lumicon HA filter the Orion nebula was
totally washed out after 7 minutes and the location of the Horses Head
was visible. Background fog was minimal.
With a 28mm f/2.8 lens and the HA filter Barnards loop was starting to
become visible after 20 minutes although the glow from the highway
lights was also fogging the film.
The film appears to have good reciprocity characteristics and excellend
red sensitivity, it is on he grainy side. But it was also tested
straight out of the box with no hypering. Not that hypering will help
grain...
Due to poor quality images (alignment, tracking, focus) I won't post any
copies tonight, but by next clear sky I hope to have my pier in place
and properly aligned so I will run some further tests and post the
results. If we get two clear nights I'll also run some Forte Pan 200
through the camera as well.
Film was developed in HC-110 for 7 min 30 sec at ~68F.
