The stereo pair at the top of the page are swapped for the cross eye
method. The moon looks like a dish. If I use the parallel method then
it looks like a sphere. I swapped them in Photoshop to make sure they
would work with the cross eye method. It does.
One would think 5000 miles apart would be enough but maybe the
resolution is too low. APT images make poor anaglyphs but HRPT work
fine. The only difference is resolution.
It doesn't make any difference how far apart the red/cyan images are
(within reasonable limits). You can't change the 3D affect by moving
one a few pixels. If the images are precisely aligned of course there's
no 3D and if the images are too far apart the brain has difficulty
merging the images. Between those limits it makes no difference.
Try moving the red image in Photoshop and then observe the image in 3D
while performing a Undo/Redo Move with a keystroke. You'll see it jump
but the result is unchanged.
The only way you can increase the 3D affect is to place the two cameras
farther apart. I proved this a couple years ago with my 3D weather
satellite images. The farther apart that the satellites were in the sky
the greater the 3D affect. Did you the images I did with NOAA 12 and 14
when they were close together?
