RE: [APML] OT: aperture grille vs. shadow mask

We've used relatively high end aperture grill (Sony, NEC, Compaq)
for years (decade + IIRC). The mask wires are annoying for about
two days. After that you won't notice it unless someone brings
it up and you start looking for it.

My vote is to go with the aperture grill as long as it is on a
good name brand monitor.

Subject: [APML] OT: aperture grille vs. shadow mask

I'm going to be buying a new system soon and was wondering if I should go
with an aperture grille monitor? I've been using a shadow mask CRT for over
5 years, a Hitachi SuperScan Elite 751, and have had no complaints, still
nice and sharp with excellent colors with very little color shifting.
I've heard positives and negatives concerning both CRT types. Any thoughts?
